Elton John Raises Millions for Aids Foundation During Oscar Fundraiser
Elton John has raised an insurmountable amount of cash for his annual Elton John Aids Foundation fundraiser in West Hollywood on Sunday. The prestigious foundation raised a whopping 6.3 million at the Oscar viewing benefit party.
The Candle in the Wind singer has been hosting the extravagant gala for nearly twenty-five years in West Hollywood with the who’s who of Tinseltown. Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Russell Simmons, Jeffrey Tambor, Boy George and more attended the swanky gala.
Elton belted a few of his own memorable tracks during the impressive gala including “The Bitch is Back,” “Bernie and the Jets” and “Rocket Man” just to name a few. Party attendees were also blessed with tracks from his latest album, “Wonderful Crazy Night.”
John also performed a free showcase on Saturday to the residents of West Hollywood. Lada Gaga performed alongside Elton John to track “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.” Being true to his vibrant personality, John wore a glittery jacket with jewels emblazoned with the words Captain Fantastic” on the back.
The final curtain call included the enigmatic title “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting” which concluded the weekends worthy cause.
